Care & Maintenance
Guide

Proper care ensures your Farmscraft furniture stays beautiful for decades. Follow these simple guidelines to preserve the wood’s natural beauty.

🔌

Daily Care

Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Dust regularly to prevent surface build-up.

☀️

Sun & Heat

Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources. UV and heat cause fading and cracking.

💧

Moisture

Always use coasters and mats. Wipe spills immediately. Avoid placing wet items directly on wood.

🥥

Oil Treatment

Apply food-safe teak or danish oil every 6–12 months to nourish and protect the wood.

Moving

Always lift furniture rather than dragging. Place felt pads under legs to protect floors.

🔨

Minor Repairs

Small scratches can be buffed with fine-grade steel wool and re-oiled. Contact us for larger repairs.

Regular Cleaning

  • Dust weekly with a soft microfibre cloth, wiping in the direction of the grain
  • For light cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately — never leave moisture on wood surfaces
  • Avoid chemical cleaners, spray polishes, or silicone-based products that can damage the finish
  • For upholstered pieces, vacuum fabric regularly and spot-clean with a mild fabric cleaner

Seasonal Oiling

  • Oil your furniture every 6–12 months, especially before and after dry season
  • Use food-safe teak oil, danish oil, or linseed oil — available at any hardware store
  • Clean the surface first, let it dry, then apply a thin coat with a soft cloth in circular motions
  • Let the oil absorb for 20 minutes, then wipe away any excess with a clean cloth
  • Allow to dry for 12 hours before use. 2–3 coats will rejuvenate heavily weathered wood
⚠️ Never use harsh cleaners, bleach, or steam cleaners on solid wood furniture. These damage the wood fibres and void your warranty.

Upholstery Care

  • Fabric seats: vacuum weekly; spot-clean with mild detergent and warm water; avoid rubbing — blot gently
  • Leather seats: wipe with a damp cloth monthly; condition with leather conditioner every 6 months
  • Cane & rattan backs: wipe with a damp cloth; avoid soaking; keep away from direct sun to prevent brittleness
